THE HONEST ROOF CHECKUP

A roof inspection should end with you knowing the truth about your roof — not trapped in a four-hour sales presentation. Here's what a legitimate checkup looks like, so you can measure anyone who offers you one (including us, when we launch).

What it should include

• The attic first. A roof lies from the outside; the attic tells the truth. Daylight through the boards, stains on the decking, rusty nail tips, damp insulation — that's the roof's real medical record.
• Ground-level exterior review — shingle condition, flashing, gutters full of granules. (Nobody needs to walk your roof to assess it, and untrained walking can damage shingles.)
• Photos you keep — every finding documented, handed to you, whatever you decide.
• A straight verdict — including "your roof is fine, see you in a couple of years" when that's the truth.

Red flags

• An "inspector" who finds an emergency on every roof they touch
• Pressure to sign anything the same day the problem was "discovered"
• Findings described verbally but never photographed
• Storm chasers door-knocking right after weather events with claims your roof is destroyed

The honest inspection is our founding principle: if your roof doesn't need replacing, we'll tell you — and show you the photos to prove it. That promise costs us some jobs and earns everything else.
